3 YEAR COURSE

WHAT DOES THE EDUCATION LOOK LIKE?
You will get lessons on the history of denim, you will learn how the entire cycle is composited from drawing board to jeans in the stores, but you will also experience in which way the product is sold. You will be trained in both technical and practice-oriented subjects and you will then apply your knowledge to design assignments.

INTERNSHIPS
Thanks to the cooperation with House of Denim and HTNK Fashion recruitment & consultancy, Jean School has built an extensive and global network of companies in the denim industry where students can do an internship. During the 3 year course you have two internships in which you learn in a professional environment.

TEACHING LOCATIONS
The Jean School education is given at two locations. Partly in the denim atelier of the ROC Amsterdam at the Europaboulevard in Amsterdam and partly in Denim City. Denim City is the first denim-innovation campus in the world and is located in De Hallen in Amsterdam-West. Here you will get lessons at, for example, the Blue lab that experiments with new and durable techniques to wash and to colour denim. A denim atelier is also situated here and you can go there every day to do some work.

AFTER YOUR STUDY
The Jean School trains to become a denim developer & designer. Once you have this diploma, you can start working at the departments design, development, purchase or production of companies that are specialised in denim and jeans.

In order to be admitted to the three-years education, we have set the following requirements:

- Diploma All-round Assistant Fashion / Tailor-made Fashion (MBO level 3)
- MBO diploma or a related education at level 3
- Proof of transition to 4 HAVO
- VMBO diploma T-learning programme

Jean School International Course is an initiative of ROC Amsterdam, House of Denim, in cooperation with large., international players from the denim & fashion industry. Jean School International Course is located in Denim City. A unique, innovative campus in De Hallen in Amsterdam-West that also offers accommodation to the Blue lab, a laundry and the denim-archive.

The international, one-year education is intended for everyone who wants to specialise in denim. You will be trained to become a denim developer or designer in one year. The education focuses on the technical and practice-oriented elements of the profession. Within a year you will know how to transform a design into a sellable product: from drawing patterns to the different knotting techniques for denim. During this year you will learn how jeans are woven and washed and you will get practical lessons in Denim City in De Hallen in Amsterdam. You will also get lessons and assignments from professionals who are working for reputable denim brands.

The education emphasis on craftsmanship and sustainability within all steps of the process.

In addition to the Dutch education, the Jean School in cooperation with House of Denim, recently started a one-year English-speaking education that is especially developed for foreign students and Dutch students with a HAVO-diploma or who have a propaedeutic certificate. The classes are in English.
